To be honest, I wasn't impressed at all when listening to this song for the first time. The song was too slow for me and I put it away for a long time. Many Zard songs later, I figured out that this song is included in their Request Memorial album. I became curious and wanted to find out why they have chosen this song. I started listening to this song over and over again. Now I appreciate this song as much as all their other songs. The lesson of this all: you will like a Zard song automatically, if you have listened to it often enough.

This song has been used as a theme for the anime serie Slam Dunk.
Mai Furendo in Japanese or simply My Friend. It's a great song, with a chorus that really rocks. I think this is the typical Zard song we all love. The sale figures underline this, for it is another milion selling single! Starting with this single, Zard had, imho, one of her best period, with the releases of mere top singles. Almost forget to mention the c/w song Mezameta Asa Wa... here. It is a good song, I especially like the background chorus part.

It happens occasionally, when you listen to a song you immediately know, "this song is great". The same thing happened when I listened to this song. I think it is the combination of two things that makes this song so great. First it is the fantastic music that you will hear through the entire song. It is one of those music that keeps you wanting to hear it over and over again. I just don't remember how many times I have listened to this song. Second it is Izumi Sakai's vocal. She sings with great enthusiasm, it is as it's giving you energy when listening to this song. The only drawback is that it is a rather short song. The end of the song, about a minute, is filled with only music. It is like to show us this song's superb music again. The song has also been used as that year's Pocari Sweat commercial song. It's a pity I hadn't got the chance to see that commercial though.
